Disinfectants Promote a Healthy Environment

Lately, there has been an increase in public concern over germs such as pathogenic bacteria and viruses. With this high concern, disinfectants have become a critical part of people’s cleaning routine. When used correctly, disinfectants can lead to a healthy environment. In order for your disinfectants to work, you must use them on the correct surfaces and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Not All Bacteria are Bad

A majority of the bacteria that we come into contact with each day are actually essential for life. Bacteria can help us breakdown food and perform biodegradation. Unfortunately, disinfectants are not capable of differentiating between good and bad bacteria. Therefore, as a community, we must use our disinfectants only where needed.

Disinfect High Touch Surfaces

The primary use of disinfectants should be on high touch surfaces. A high touch surface is a surface that comes into contact with multiple people over a short period of time. Examples of high touch surfaces include: light switches, hand rails, soap/towel dispensers, door knobs etc. When a surface is contaminated it is done by direct or indirect contact. Direct contact is when the infected person touches the now contaminated surface while indirect contact is when a contaminated object touches the surface like an unclean rag.

Create Your Own ICP

Every facility should develop an Infection Control Plan (ICP) to help minimize the spread of illness. ICPs are beneficial because they: promote good hygiene practices, regularly schedule cleaning of surfaces (green program promotes health), and establish a high touch surface cleaning and disinfecting protocol. When you create your own ICP, start by writing down all of your high touch surfaces. Then make a list of areas that present a greater risk of spreading illness. Next, decide how often these areas need to be disinfected. In higher populated areas you will want to disinfect your high touch surface areas one to two times per day. Finally, decide how you will properly disinfect your surfaces and the products you will use.

Multi-Clean Disinfectants

Multi-Clean provides options for hospital-grade disinfecting and sanitizing products. Without proper cleaning, businesses and schools can suffer because their employees and students become sick and their productivity lessens. Hospitals need to properly disinfect their facilities because healthcare acquired infections can keep sick people in the hospital or worse result in death. To keep these troublesome consequences from happening, you must perform proper disinfecting with the correct product. Some of these helpful products include:

256 Century Q – A no rinse, neutral pH hospital disinfectant cleaner.

64 Millennium Q – Multi-purpose disinfectant and restroom cleaner. One step cleaning for hard surfaces.

Microcide TB – A ready-to-use, one-step hospital germicidal disinfectant cleaner and deodorizer.

M-C 10 Sanitizer – No-rinse food service sanitizer.

Fresh 100 – A ready-to-use, non-acid bowl cleaner that is slightly thickened to give maximum cling.
