Floor Stripping Procedure
Stripping a floor requires the proper supplies along with following step by step instructions to reassure the method is applied correctly. The first thing you will want to do is prep the floor and area. Remove all furniture, debris, and any obstacles that can get in the way. Choose an area where you want to begin stripping and section it off with wet floor signs. Create an exit path before you start stripping. Make sure there are mats at the exit area to remove and place your shoes onto. This way any stripping solution will not get on any surrounding floor areas that are not meant to be stripped.
Next, line a mop bucket with plastic to contain the stripper. This leaves the mop bucket reusable for future versatile purposes. Before pouring a stripper into the mop bucket, Consult the label of a floor stripper to better understand it’s usage. Some floor strippers require a ratio to be mixed with water. Depending on the traffic of a floor finish, a stripper solution ratio may differ. Multi-Clean offers a 1:4 ratio Ultra Stripper with low friction to remove previous floor finishes.
Apply a generous amount to the starting floor area and let it sit for 10-15 minutes without drying. This allows the solution to loosen the floor finish before proceeding to the next step. Attach the appropriate floor stripping pad to an auto or rotary floor scrubber. After scrubbing the area with floor stripper solution, use a certified wet vacuum to pick up solution immediately to prevent any drying. After that step, use a clean mop and bucket to begin rinsing the floor.
