Dilution Control Matters

Dilution control systems can provide many benefits to the end user. It can increase safety, productivity, and decrease costs and chemical waste. Two scenarios can occur with manual dilution techniques. The first scenario is over-dilution. For example, over-diluted disinfectants may not be effective in meeting the kill claims per EPA. The second scenario is under-dilution. Under-diluted chemicals can increase the facility’s costs because chemicals are being wasted. In both of these scenarios, the end user may spend more time re-cleaning, create a hazardous workspace, and not meet the cleaning performance needs. And this is all due to improper manual dilution techniques.

Dilution control systems, such as the Multi-Task System, use bottles that contain metering tips. A metering tip guarantees precise product-to-water dilution ratio. Because the tips are located inside the Multi-Task bottles, a new metering tip is used whenever a new bottle is used. With this type of system, it ensures that the metering tips won’t get clogged overtime and become unusable and will continue to provide accurate dilution in a quick and easy manner. If the facility, or janitors closet, cannot facilitate a wall-mounted dispenser such as the Multi-Task System, portable proportioners such as the Easy-Fill Gun, are available. Portable proportioners work the same way as wall-mounted dispensers do; they both simply require a water source to hook up to.

A dilution control system should be incorporated into every cleaning program. These systems are easy to use and it eliminates the guesswork when it comes to chemical mixing. If the facility or area cannot facilitate a wall-mounted dispenser, portable proportioners are the best alternative.
